Pakistan's internationally acclaimed mangoes took centre stage at the Pakistan Mango Festival 2026, held on July 9 at Danube HyperMarket, Red Sea Mall, Jeddah, bringing together Saudi officials, diplomats, business leaders, chefs, media representatives and members of the Pakistani community. Organised by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah in collaboration with the Pakistan Investors Forum, the event promoted Pakistan's premium mangoes, boosted awareness of the country's agricultural exports and further strengthened Saudi-Pakistan trade relations.

The event was inaugurated by Pakistan's Consul General, Syed Mustafa Rabbani, in the presence of senior officials, including Minister for Commerce and Investment Dr. Shagufta Zarin, Commercial Consul Sadia Khan, Trade Development Officer Fahad Farhan, Press Consul Mohammed Irfan, President of the Pakistan Investors Forum Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmoud, as well as diplomats, business leaders, members of civil society and media professionals.

Visitors sampled Pakistan's renowned mango varieties, including Chaunsa, Sindhri, Anwar Ratol, Langra, Dussehri and other premium cultivars, all celebrated for their rich aroma, natural sweetness and distinctive flavour.

One of the festival's highlights was Danube HyperMarket's innovative culinary presentation, where Pakistan's world-famous mangoes were transformed into an enticing range of ready-to-enjoy delicacies. Alongside premium fresh mangoes, visitors enjoyed an exclusive selection of mango cakes, mango sushi, desserts and other mango-inspired specialties, showcasing the fruit's versatility in contemporary cuisine and offering shoppers a memorable gastronomic experience.

Abdulrahman Ismail Shirbeeni, Fresh Department Manager at Danube HyperMarket, BinDawood Holding, said the retailer had expanded this year's Pakistan Mango Festival beyond showcasing fresh fruit by incorporating premium Pakistani mangoes into a variety of signature products, offering shoppers a unique culinary experience.

"This year we are launching the Mango Festival featuring premium Pakistani mangoes and mango-inspired products. We are offering renowned Pakistani mango varieties including Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, Sindhri and Badami. We have also incorporated mangoes into a variety of products such as cakes, sushi and several other specialties. It is an excellent opportunity to introduce these products to the market. They are exceptionally delicious, and we warmly invite everyone to come and experience them," he said.

The specially crafted mango desserts and freshly prepared snacks quickly became among the festival's most popular attractions, with visitors praising their authentic tropical flavour, creativity and premium quality. The unique mango-inspired menu reflected Danube's commitment to introducing innovative culinary experiences while promoting Pakistan's finest seasonal produce.

The festival also reflected the Pakistani community's strong commitment to supporting and promoting national agricultural products in the Kingdom. Community leaders, business leaders, chefs, media personalities and families attended in large numbers, demonstrating their continued support for strengthening Pakistan's commercial presence in Saudi Arabia while encouraging greater appreciation of Pakistani produce among local consumers and international visitors.

Pakistan is among the world's leading producers and exporters of mangoes. The country cultivates more than 250 named mango cultivars across the fertile provinces of Punjab and Sindh, although around 25 commercially important varieties account for the country's export trade. Pakistani mangoes are widely regarded as the "King of Fruits" for their exceptional sweetness, rich aroma and premium quality, making them among the most sought-after mangoes in international markets.

Speaking during the inauguration, Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani emphasised that Saudi Arabia remains one of the most important international markets for Pakistani mangoes, with demand continuing to grow every year. He noted that promotional events such as the Pakistan Mango Festival not only create new export opportunities but also deepen economic cooperation, cultural understanding and people-to-people connections between the two friendly countries.

He further noted that Pakistan exports more than 100,000 tonnes of premium mangoes annually to markets across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East, generating approximately US$100 million in export earnings. He expressed confidence that introducing a broader range of Pakistani mango varieties to Saudi consumers would further accelerate exports to the Kingdom in the coming years.

Beyond showcasing fresh fruit, the festival demonstrated how food can serve as a bridge between cultures. By combining Pakistan's agricultural excellence with Saudi Arabia's dynamic retail sector, the event offered consumers an authentic culinary experience while reinforcing the enduring friendship and expanding economic partnership between the two nations.

Owned by BinDawood Holding, Danube HyperMarket is one of the Kingdom's leading premium grocery retailers, operating hypermarkets across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Through its online shopping platform, Danube Online, customers can shop from a selection of more than 10,000 products, including premium fresh produce, imported fruits, juices, pickles, specialty foods and seasonal favourites, making high-quality international products readily accessible to consumers throughout the Kingdom.
